Havre Daily News/Floyd Brandt Rob Pope from Liverpool England is running for the third time across the United States on State Highway 2 Wednesday. Pope started at age 38, his first run started in Mobile, Alabama running all the way to Santa Monica, California, 2042 miles. He then turned around and ran all the way to Marshall Point Lighthouse in Maine 3186 miles crossing 18 states. Reaching Marshall Point Lighthouse Pope again turned around to start his third run across the United States reaching Havre Tuesday August 15th, 2511 miles from Marshall Point Lighthouse, Maine. Running across America is the length of around 100 marathons (26.2 miles each), Pope has been training for this marathon, winning the Australian Marathon Championships in 2015 and the Liverpool Rock 'n' Roll Marathon 2015 and 2016, when he finishes this third run he will have run over 329 marathons Now at the age of 39 he is running across the Northern states to end in Oregon, where he plans to go to San Francisco and decide if he will do a fourth run back to the East Coast. When sighted just west of Kremling he had finished 7764 miles with just 900 miles to go, running around 8700 total miles. Popes reason for re-enacting Forest Gump's run across America is to raise funds and bring awareness about two organizations The World Wildlife Fund and Peace Direct.
